If one has to think of veteran director Balu Mahendra's sudden death they cannot stop thinking of the deplorable treatment meted out to actress Mounika who was the second wife of the veteran filmmaker. The master craftsman has also publicly announced long before his death that he has tied the nuptial knot to the actress.

However Mounika had to pass many struggles and knock quite a few doors and make so many phone calls to pay last repsects to the man to whom she dedicated her personal life. National award winning director Bala was rumored to be the person who was strongly opposing Mounika's entry to the place where Balu Mahendra's mortal remains were kept.

In a recent interview to a private Telelvision channel Mounika has opened up for the first time about her relationship with Balu Mahendra and Bala's role in causing such a painful experience to her.

In the interview Mounika accused Bala of posting his men at the entrance to stop her from entering the place and went to the extent of ordering them to beat her if she dares to enter.
Mounika said that her husband not only taught cinema but also many humane qualities to his assistants but Bala did not learn compassion from the person whom he claims as his mentor. She has also wondered whether Bala has any rights to deny her entry to the place where the mortal remains of the person with whom she has spent 28 years together.  Mounika also recalled that Shanky Mahendra who was the biological son of Balu Mahendra and Akila was one of the persons who questioned Bala's decision to not allow Mounika while he is ready to allow her.
Mounika concluded the interview by saying that even if many accept that her relationship with Balu Mahendra is unacceptable Bala should have tried to separate her from Balu Mahendra when the veteran was alive and not at the time of his death.
